In Hawaiian, Koa means strong, bold, and warrior like; all of which are qualities you would associate with a surfer. The Koa wordmark is fun, approachable, and represents the company's tribal roots. The symbol forms a strong, graphical identity for Koa while capturing on a fundamental, intuitive level, the mystique of surfing and the central themes of fun in the sun and leisure. This symbol contains the three basic natural elements of surfing: sunshine, waves, and mountains. The circle is a unifying element, representing the company’s wholistic approach towards product design.

The objective was to develop and design an identity system for a new company; their target market, goals, and products and services offered. Koa Surfboards is a company that specializes in the design and production of surf apparel, eyewear, footwear, and accessories for surfing. The stationery is fresh, clean, and appeals to the target audience, while maintaining a professional look.The colour palette is fun, approachable and reminiscent of summer, the beach, and reflects the company's Hawaiian roots.
